LeBron James and his son Bronny James are set to make headlines once again as they are both expected to play together when the Los Angeles Lakers face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday at 7:30 ET (League Pass). Bronny, who spent his childhood running through the hallways and riding the elevators at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse while his father played, will take the court alongside LeBron for the second time in a pro game. LeBron, a two-time Cavalier champion, led the team to its 2016 title before leaving in 2018.
Last week, the duo made history as the first father-son pair to play in an NBA game, checking in together during the Lakers' season opener against Minnesota, where they secured a 110-103 victory.
This moment was a dream come true for both, and LeBron expressed the significance of playing in Cleveland again, saying, “It’s definitely going to be very special to be back home and be able to run the floor with my son, who spent a lot of time on that floor throughout my days.”
Debut match of bronny
In his debut, Bronny didn’t score, missing both his shot attempts and grabbing one rebound in just three minutes of play. Following this game, he is expected to join the South Bay Lakers, the Lakers’ G League team, after the road trip ends on November 6 in Memphis.
Bronny’s appearance in Cleveland coincides with the 21st anniversary of LeBron’s professional debut on October 29, 2002, where he scored 25 points, recorded nine assists, and grabbed six rebounds against Sacramento.
Father-Son duo history
The Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most prestigious sports franchises, celebrated a historic moment when LeBron James and his son Bronny became the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game.
LeBron, at 39 years old and in his record-tying 22nd NBA season, started the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Bronny, 20, made his NBA debut by joining his father on the court with four minutes left in the second quarter. The pair entered the game simultaneously, eliciting fan cheers at Crypto.com Arena.
Bronny played for about two and a half minutes, finishing with two missed shots and one rebound. The Lakers won the game 110-103, with LeBron scoring 16 points and Anthony Davis leading all scorers with 36 points and 16 rebounds.
