While the Los Angeles Lakers needed their big man the most with Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves out for the entire NBA regular season, JJ Redick’s side has to be without LeBron James against the best team in the league right now.
LeBron James ruled out for Lakers vs Thunder NBA clash in absence of Doncic & Reaves
LeBron has been ruled out for the Lakers’ Tuesday night home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder because of left foot soreness and injury management, the team announced. The 41-year-old superstar’s absence comes as the Lakers, already depleted, prepare for a rematch against the Western Conference-leading Thunder.
Los Angeles is missing co-stars Doncic (Grade 2 left hamstring strain) and Austin Reaves (Grade 2 oblique strain), both sidelined for the remainder of the regular season after injuries sustained in a recent blowout loss to Oklahoma City.
James, who has shouldered a heavier load this season, was listed as questionable on Monday’s injury report before being officially scratched. The decision prioritizes his health late in the campaign as the Lakers fight to maintain their playoff positioning.
Meanwhile, the Lakers are 4th in the Western Conference with a 50-28 record while the Thunder has been on top of the conference ever since the beginning of the season. The franchise, which is 62-16 ahead of the clash, defeated the Lakers 139-96 in their last matchup.
