After a long hiatus of 13 months because of an Achilles rupture in the January of 2025, Dejounte Murray is finally cleared to represent the New Orleans Pelicans in the clash against the Golden State Warriors.
MASSIVE news for New Orleans Pelicans
This is going to be a big boost for the New Orleans Pelicans as they are going through a horrible season. Currently they are riding on a 16-42 record and stand at the 14 place in the Western Conference.
The 29-year-old point guard, will play his first competitive game for the first time in one year. The Achilles rupture was sustained on a non-contact sequence as Murray tried to chase his own missed shot and witnessed a fall while lunging for the loose ball.
Following the practice on Monday, Murray talked about his rehabilitation and his mental toughness that was tested in the tough times. He reflected on all the challenges that motivated him to achieve full fitness.
"What Ive been through, what I go through, I use that all to fuel the fire," Murray said. The guard then underlined personal priorities. "I dont care about the money. I dont care about the fame, the lifestyle," Murray said. "I love this game and I'm going to get everything I can out of this game until its over," said Murray.
Tailor made scenario for Dejounte Murray
With Murray coming back, The Pelicans enter Tuesday's game with 16-42 in the Western Conference with no shot at the play-offs. This is a tailor made situation for Murray to play without any pressure and get his form back before the next season arrives.
