The Phoenix Suns endured one of their most disappointing seasons in the NBA history. The difficult phase continued right through for them, and it will go down as a season where nothing went their way. With 36 wins and 46 losses, their campaign ended in the regular season itself. The frustrating spell suffered by the Suns calls for action and some outward moments from the franchise are expected, which could involve veteran Kevin Durant.

Phoenix Suns' Stand on Devin Booker
The Phoenix Suns are embracing a hard reset after a dismal season, having fired coach Mike Budenholzer and potentially trading Kevin Durant, with Bradley Beal's contract also being considered for a buyout. Amidst the roster overhaul, Devin Booker has become a subject of trade speculation. To maximize draft pick returns in their rebuild, the Suns might need to consider trading Booker. The team's plans for their franchise player were recently revealed.
Booker has been the best player on the Suns for pretty much his entire career, and Phoenix doesn't appear ready to see him walk.
"Booker remains so as he finishes the first season of a four-year, $220 million extension. Booker is eligible to sign a two-year, $149.8 million extension this summer, which Phoenix is expected to offer, sources said," reported ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "In his first season under Budenholzer, Booker averaged a career-high 37.3 minutes, 25.6 points -- his lowest since 2018 -- and shot a career-low 33% from 3."
Even if Devin Booker signs an extension through the 2029-2030 season, it doesn't guarantee he'll stay with the Suns long-term. His trade value will remain high until he's in the final two years of his contract, assuming he continues to perform well. Owner Mat Ishbia's reluctance to rebuild might be tested if Booker refuses an extension, potentially forcing the Suns' hand.
