Despite having world beaters like Luka Doncic and LeBron James in the squad, the LA Lakers are still not covered at every front. Lakers To Pursue Mitchell Robinson

As per reports, the New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is on the radar of the Lakers. The 26-year-old presents a solid resume. Standing at 7 feet tall, the player has been a consistent force when fit. The 2019-20 season was the standout of his career, as he was able to record 74.2% shots from the field, which highlighted his efficiency around the rim.

Though he is injury-prone, the impact he can have on the court cannot be ignored. In the 2023-24 season, he averaged 5.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks in just 31 games. His ability to finish lobs, protect the rim, and run the floor makes him an ideal fit for the Los Angeles Lakers’ fast-paced style of play.

"The Lakers might need to do a little convincing to get Luka Doncic, who could enter free agency in 2026, to tie his future to theirs," wrote Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley. "Those recruitment efforts should start in full swing this summer, as the team starts to construct a supporting cast tailored to his strengths."

Injury Concerns a Big Factor

Mitchell Robinson's skillset perfectly aligns with the needs and desires of the Lakers. His attributes could push him to collect easy supplies from Doncic and James during the pick-and-roll situations. He is a capable defender as well. His shot-blocking and rebounding ability could prove to be extremely valuable. However, it will all boil down to his fitness. Robinson hasn't featured this season and thus the concerns related to his injury could come as a major factor behind his trade in the future.
