Wembanyama, the Spurs forward, updated his followers on X by posting:
“Elijah has been found safe! Thank you to everyone who shared the information. You all played a part in this."
Elijah Hoard, a 23-year-old friend of Wembanyama, went missing in late February 2026. He had been visiting his father in Chicago for about 10 days and was dropped off at O'Hare International Airport on February 27 to catch a flight back to France. However, he never checked in, never boarded the plane, and disappeared from the airport.
Chicago police issued a missing persons bulletin on Sunday, March 1, noting he might need medical attention, describing him as a 6'3", 220-pound Black male last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and cream-colored shoes. Reports also mentioned he had shown mood swings and reluctance to return home in the final days of his visit.
On Monday, March 2, Wembanyama, the 22-year-old basketball sensation, posted urgent appeals on his Instagram stories, sharing the missing person details and asking the public to contact local authorities if they had any information. His posts helped spread awareness rapidly, with the players finally admitting that his friend had been found.
