Trae Young addresses heartbreaking departure from Hawks to Wizards
The All- Star guard, on his official social media account, said goodbye to the Hawks, lamenting never getting to "see our full potential" in the franchise. Young wrote that “bringing a championship to Atlanta” was something he always wanted; however, the “injuries, the setbacks, and situations” failed to do so.
In the meantime, following his departure, Young is ready for a new challenge outside Atlanta. He wrote:
"The pain of staying the same eventually outweighed the uncertainty of change. Change is often met with fear, but I see it as another opportunity.”
The 27-year-old played college basketball for the Oklahoma Sooners and spent his entire NBA career so far with the Hawks until his trade to the Wizards. The four-time NBA All-Star suffered from a right MCL sprain early in the season and was ruled out recently due to a right quad contusion.
