LeBron James is yet to make his season debut, and the Los Angeles Lakers’ star has been sidelined following a lingering sciatica in his right leg. The forward was also ruled out of the pre-season as the regular season remained the priority, and the franchise didn't want to rush things with the 40-year-old. In his absence, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have been taking care of the matches, stunning with their consistent performance. However, fans have started missing the former Cleveland Cavaliers player after the Lakers’ recent loss to the defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder.
When will LeBron James return? A look at Lakers star’s season debut
The Lakers on Thursday announced that James has been cleared for contact basketball activity. This shows the player is making a significant milestone in his recovery from his sciatica issue. It was previously reported that he would make his return in mid-November. The four-time NBA Championship winner will be reevaluated by the team’s medical staff in one to two weeks.
According to ESPN, LeBron is practicing with the South Bay Lakers, the franchise’s G League affiliate, and his ramp-up with South Bay will include full five-on-five action during practices.
JJ Redick hints at LeBron James’ return: potential date expected November 18
JJ Redick has hinted at when James might be back on the court, although the team has not provided his exact date. James is unlikely to join the team during the road trip, which concludes Saturday, Nov. 15, against the Milwaukee Bucks. This also means that the Lakers' star might be making his debut on November 18 when the franchise hosts the Utah Jazz. The three-time Olympic gold medalist will be entering his 23rd season.
