Why did NBA fine Anthony Edwards? Timberwolves star punished with $25000

The NBA fined Timberwolves star Edwards $25,000, the league announced Thursday. It said that the player was punished for "throwing the game ball with force into the spectator stands.”

The penalty stems from an incident in the Timberwolves' game against the Portland, where Edwards casually grabbed the loose ball and hurled it the length of the floor toward the opposite basket.

The fine was confirmed in an official release from NBA Communications, which also included a video. It showed that the ball hit an arena staff member in the head. Edwards, a prominent young face of the league, has faced previous scrutiny for on-court behavior.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are 5th in the Western Conference with a 37-23 record. They defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in their most recent outing. They will next face the Denver Nuggets on Monday.
