The schedule for the upcoming three-match T20I and three-match ODI series between Team India and Sri Lanka is finally out. This tour will start from 26th July and will last till 7th August. There have been only two allotted venues for this series. All the T20Is will be played at the Pallekele and Colombo will be hosting all the 50-over games. Neither of the teams have announced their squad for the upcoming series. However, as per reports, BCCI will be giving rest to Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah for this series as there's a long red-ball season ahead. There are also reports stating that BCCI will be appointing two captains for this tour. Hardik Pandya will have the command in the shortest format and KL Rahul will be making his return and will be given the charge of the ODI team.
Gautam Gambhir's first assignment
The upcoming tour of Sri Lanka will be the first assignment for Gautam Gambhir as the new Indian head coach. He took over the office as the successor of Rahul Dravid who ended his tenure with the Men in Blue after the historic triumph in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. Gambhir would like to continue this dominance, in fact, he was eager to join the Indian side and start from the Zimbabwe tour itself but top officials from BCCI asked him to wait till the SL tour. This will be the beginning of a new era under the regime of the former T20I and ODI World Cup-winning player.
