Virat Kohli as opener on New York pitches has not been a decision that has paid dividends so far. After two single-digit scores, Kohli got out for a golden duck to Mumbai-born left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar. Kohli poked at a delivery angled across. The outside edge carried to wicketkeeper Andries Gous. This is Kohli’s first golden duck in T20 World Cups.
Kohli scored just one run in India’s T20 World Cup opener against Ireland. In the next match against Pakistan, he fell to Naseem Shah after hitting a boundary.
Kohli's unimpressive numbers on USA soil
The 35-year-old has not had a good run on USA soil in the format. He has scored 68 runs from six innings at an average of 11.33. His strike rate is 97.14.

Rohit falls to left-arm pacer again
Netravalkar was lethal with the new ball. He dismissed skipper Rohit Sharma as well. He bowled a fullish length with a scrambled seasm. Rohit went for the lofted shot but all he could manage was a leading edge. Harmeet Singh went back running and took the catch outside the 30-yard circle. Rohit scored just three runs from six deliveries.
USA post a fighting total
After USA were put to bat first, they lost two wickets to Arshdeep Singh in the first over. Stand-in skipper Aaron Jones struggled and could score 11 runs from 22 balls before falling to Hardik Pandya. Steven Taylor hit a couple of sixes in his 30-ball 24 before getting bowled by Axar Patel. Nitish Kumar and Corey Anderson pushed the scoring rate. Arshdeep came back into the attack to dismiss Nitin who scored 27 off 23 balls. In the slog overs, Pandya dismissed former Kiwi all-rounder Anderson. Arshdeep in his last over got the wicket of Harmeet as well. Shadley van Schalkwyk contributed 10 runs to the score as Canada posted a fighting total of 110/8.
