IPL 2024: Pat Cummins joins SRH camp ahead of Indian Premier League, says ‘I’m ready and pumped’

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins has arrived in India and linked up with the team on March 19 ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Sunrisers will kick off their campaign against Shreyas Iyer's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 23 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. 

 

Hyderabad-based franchise uploaded a post on their social media handle ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). They wrote: "Look who's here. Welcome to Hyderabad, Pat Cummins".

Pat Cummins set to lead SRH in IPL 2024

 

30-year-old Cummins is all set to captain SRH during the IPL 2024. He replaced South Africa’s Aiden Markram, who led the side in IPL 2023. He became the second-most expensive player in IPL history as he was bought by SRH for Rs. 20.50 crore after a bidding war with Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) during the IPL auctions in December last year.

 

Talking about Cummins's track record, he mopped up 379 runs in 42 matches at an average of 18.95 and a strike rate of 152.21. He slammed three half-centuries and claimed 45 wickets at an economy rate of 8.54.

 

He has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before moving to the SRH.

SRH bagged IPL Title in 2016

 

The SRH team claimed the IPL title in 2016 after thrashing RCB by eight runs at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. However, SRH ended up as runners-up against the defending champions CSK In 2018. 

 

SRH are excited for a major change after ending at the bottom of the table twice in the last three seasons. They last qualified for the playoffs in the 2020 IPL season.
