Rawat hit five sixes in the final over of the innings.

South Delhi Superstarz captain Ayush Badoni had a horrible outing in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) final on September 8. Badoni, who played for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (PL) 2024, was smashed for five sixes in the final over of the innings by East Delhi Riders’ Mayank Rawat

Badoni who had conceded just four runs in his first over chose to bowl the last over ahead of Vision Panchal. The match-ups were not in his favour considering a set Rawat was batting on 48. The first ball was a full toss from around the wicket and was hit over deep square leg for a six. He followed it up with a dot ball.

Badoni came over the wicket and bowled another full toss. Rawat hit a huge six over deep mid wicket. The fourth delivery was a low full toss. Rawat got down on one knee and hit it for another six. On the penultimate delivery, under-pressure Badoni pitched it up. This time, Rawat hit it over long-on for a humongous six. On the final ball, he came round the wicket again. Once again, he could not control the ball and bowled a full toss. Rawat hit another six to cap off the innings and helped his side post 183/5.

When Rawat walked out to bat, East Delhi Riders were struggling for 69/4 from 9.5 overs. He remained unbeaten for 78 runs from 39 deliveries. During the knock, he got support from Kavya Gupta and Harsh Tyagi.

Badoni fails in run chase

The pressure of the run chase got to Badoni who departed for a single-digit score. Despite Tejaswi Dahiya's 42-ball 68, South Delhi Superstarz fell short of the target and lost the match by three runs. Rawat did damage with the ball as well. He conceded 14 runs from two overs and got the wicket of opener Kunwar Bidhuri.
