West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket has joined Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as their mentor for the upcoming season of the tournament. He has joined the franchise as Gautam Gambhir's replacement as he left the franchise after being appointed as India's head coach replacing Rahul Dravid.
Bravo, who is set to turn 41 next month, is celebrated as the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket. After retiring from international cricket in 2021, he concluded his illustrious IPL career last year. In the past year, Bravo has transitioned to coaching, contributing his expertise to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Afghanistan national team.
“I’ve been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate. The owners' passion, the professionalism of the management, and the family-like environment make it a special place. This is the perfect platform for me as I transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players” said Bravo.

The right-handed batter has made an impressive mark in T20 cricket, playing 582 matches globally and scoring 6,970 runs at an average of 22.33 and a strike rate of 125.44. With the ball, he was equally formidable, taking 631 wickets at an average of 24.40. When announcing his retirement, Bravo emphasized that while he feels mentally ready for another stint, physical limitations make it challenging for him to continue the intense grind of professional cricket. His contributions to the game, both with bat and ball, have solidified his legacy as one of the greats in T20 history.
