Story Highlights:

Abhishek Sharma retained top spot on ICC T20I Rankings

Both Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav slipped down

India batter Abhishek Sharma retained his spot as the No.1 T20I batter in the world on the ICC Rankings. This comes after the left-hander scored 30 runs against UAE and followed that up with an inning of 31 against Pakistan in Asia Cup. He currently has 884 rating points under his name and is a massive 46 points ahead of England wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt, who stands at the second position.

Both Salt and Jos Buttler gained a place each, reaching the second and third place respectively on the rankings. This comes after the former played a stunning knock of 141* against South Africa in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series, while the latter also played a fine inning of 80 in the same match. Salt has 838 rating points under his name while Buttler has 794.

Another batter who made gains in the top 10 was Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka, who gained one spot and reached the sixth place with 751 rating points. He scored important half-centuries in both of the Lankan Lions' Asia Cup matches. He first played a valiant knock of 50 against Bangladesh before carrying the side to victory with a 68-run inning against Hong Kong.

Tilak and Suryakumar slip

Both Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav ended up losing places on the rankings despite their important knocks against Pakistan in Asia Cup. The former scored 31 runs while the latter remained unbeaten on 47 and even hit the winning runs. However, these knocks didn't prove to be enough as Tilak lost two places and dropped to the fourth position with 792 rating points. On the other hand, Suryakumar was pipped down by Nissanka to seventh place with 747 rating points.
