BCCI will announce India squad for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka

India veteran legspinner Amit Mishra slammed Shubman Gill's captaincy ahead of the T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka. India vs Sri Lanka T20I and ODI three-match series is scheduled to start from July 27 where Hardik Pandya will lead the team in the shortest format of the game and the ODI captain is yet to be decided by the cricket board.

Amit Mishra reckoned that Gill didn't know how to lead a side considering his captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gill captained IPL franchise Gujarat Titans in 2024 after Hardik Pandya joined Mumbai Indians (MI) as Rohit Sharma's successor under his leadership the team failed to qualify for the playoffs and that is the first time since their inaugural season that they got out before the eliminator.

“I would not have made him the captain. I saw the IPL this season, and Gill doesn’t know how to captain the side. Gill is clueless. Just because he is a part of the Indian team, he shouldn’t be made captain. Gill has done well in the IPL over the last few seasons; he did fine with the Indian team as well. The Indian team made him the captain because they wanted to give him leadership experience, which wasn’t visible when he led the Gujarat Titans in the IPL" said Amit Mishra on Shubankar Mishra's podcast.
