Riyan Parag topped the chart in the most run-getters list in the ongoing IPL 2024.

Riyan Parag after scoring a half century in RR's win vs MI, edged Virat Kohli in the most run-getters list.

The race for the coveted Orange Cap in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has taken a surprising turn after the 14th match of the glitzy league. After Monday's (April 1) exciting IPL 2024 contest between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), the top run-scorers list has shuffled. Youngster Riyan Parag has snatched the lead with another batting blitz in RR's winning cause, now proudly wearing the Orange Cap. Meanwhile, seasoned batsman Virat Kohli finds himself in second place, and South Africa's Heinrich Klaasen sits comfortably in third on the run-scoring charts.

This how Orange Cap list shapes up after MI vs RR's clash:

1. Riyan Parag (RR)

Riyan Parag has taken the league by storm, amassing a whopping 181 runs in just three matches. His blistering strike rate of 160.18 and a near-perfect average of 181 have propelled him to the top spot, dethroning Virat Kohli.  Parag's unbeaten 54 not only secured a crucial win for Rajasthan Royals but also helped them climb to the top of the points table.

2. Virat Kohli (RCB)

The seasoned campaigner, Virat Kohli, isn't far behind with 181 runs of his own.  Though his strike rate of 141.41 is slightly lower than Parag's, his average of 90.5 still reflects his consistent form.  With a match against Lucknow Super Giants today, Kohli has a chance to reclaim the Orange Cap.

3. Heinrich Klaasen (SRH)

South Africa's Heinrich Klaasen has been a key player for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the middle overs.  His contributions were crucial in securing an improbable victory for SRH in their first match, and then again in helping them reach their highest ever IPL total in the second game. Klaasen has amassed a total of 167 runs in a span of 3 matches with a stunning strike rate of 219.74.

4) Shikhar Dhawan (PBKS)

Leading the charge for Punjab Kings, Shikhar Dhawan has provided his team with strong starts. He currently sits at number 4 with a total of 137 runs.  While his strike rate of 133 suggests a more controlled approach, his average of 45.67 reflects his consistency at the crease.

5) David Warner (DC)

The ever-reliable David Warner brings his experience to the Delhi Capitals batting line-up.  He's once again a contender for the Orange Cap with his solid performances this season.  A crucial half-century against Chennai Super Kings was instrumental in securing Delhi's first win. Warner has amassed 130 runs in 3 matches, maintaining a healthy average of 43.33 and a strike rate of 144.44.
