Former Indian and Karnataka Ranji cricketer David Johnson died from falling from the 4th floor of SLV Paradise apartment, in Bengaluru, on Thursday. He passed away at the age of 52. As per the initial reports claimed, Johnson committed suicide as he was suffering from chronic depression. However, the police are still investigating the incident. He was later taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. An UDR (unnatural death report) has been filed at the Kothanur police station.
Who was David Johnson
David Jhonson was born on October 16, 1971. He had a really short stint as an International Indian cricketer and was known for his fast bowling. He represented the Indian cricket team in two Test matches back in the year 1996. He made his debut against Australia. Despite his great start to his career and nice pace, he could not get many opportunities at the international level as he struggled with his consistency and injuries
However, Johnson kept on representing and playing domestic for Karnataka. He had more achievement and contributed a lot to his side's bowling unit. After retirement he was associated himself with training and supporting rising young cricketers cricketers. He played 39 First-Class matches and took a total of 125 wickets. This also included four five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah gave his condolences to pacer David Johnson's family. He praised Johnson's contribution to the game and said he will always be remembered.
“Deepest condolences to family and friends of our former Indian fast bowler David Johnson. His contributions to the game will always be remembered,” wrote Jay Shah from his official ‘X’ account formerly known as Twitter.
