India’s Test cricketer Sarfaraz Khan’s father Naushad has alerted budding cricketers of a scam running in his name. Naushad claimed that people have created his fake IDs on social media platforms where they promise young cricketers a stint with an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise as net bowlers and demand money.
“Good morning friends. Once again I am in front of you because some people have created fake accounts in my name on Facebook and Instagram and these people are demanding money from young children. These youth are being trapped by saying that I will get them selected in IPL and as net bowlers. In such a situation, I request you all not to fall into any such trap and keep working hard. Currently, I am not associated with any IPL team and am not coaching anyone,” Naushad said in a video.
Last month, Sarfaraz made his Test debut in Rajkot. His father and wife were present in the stadium when Sarfaraz got the cap and wept tears of joy. The videos of Sarfaraz showing his Test cap were widely shared on social media.
Sarfaraz’s dream debut
On his debut, he scored twin half-centuries to equal former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar's rare feat. In the next Test played in Ranchi, he could not continue his form and scored 14 runs in the first innings followed by a duck. The Mumbai cricketer is set to be inducted into the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) list of centrally contracted players when he makes an appearance in the fifth Test scheduled to begin on March 7 in Dharamsala.
Musheer's fine form continues
Sarfaraz’s younger brother Musheer Khan made headlines as well. The teenager scored two centuries in the Under-19 World Cup 2024. In Ranji Trophy 2023-24, he scored an unbeaten double-century against Baroda in the quarterfinal clash. He scored a crucial half-century against Tamil Nadu in the semifinal clash amidst a batting collapse. He will be seen in action again in Ranji Trophy 2023-24 final scheduled to begin on March 10.
