Indian star batter Shreyas Iyer who is looking for his comeback in the Indian Test team has failed to perform in the opener clash of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. Shreyas Iyer managed to score only 9 runs
India-D led by Shreyas Iyer, who came to bat first in Anantapur ground, did not have a good start and suffered the first blow at the score of four runs. After this, when Shreyas Iyer came to bat at number three, he became the victim of Vijaykumar Vaishak after scoring 9 runs with a four in 16 balls. Due to this, his team got the second blow at the score of 23 runs and then three more wickets fell in a row. Due to this India-D had lost five wickets for 34 runs till 10.5 overs. After this, Akshar Patel and wicketkeeper KS Bharat will now want to handle their team's innings at the crease.
Strong start by India-C bowlers
Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India-C got a good start as Vijay Kumar Vaishak and Anshul Kamboj picked up two wickets each in the first five scalps.
Shreyas Iyer's flop show
Iyer was last played two Test matches out of five Test match series against England which was played earlier this year. After that, he missed the three Test matches citing injury. BCCI was not happy with his decision and Iyer was dropped from the central contract for quitting Test cricket. After this Iyer played Ranji Trophy and recently his bat remained silent during the Buchi Babu tournament, while now he could not do anything in the first innings of the first match of the Duleep Trophy. Iyer has so far scored 811 runs in 14 Test matches for India.
