Former India captain MS Dhoni is one of the most followed cricketers around the world and the reason behind his popularity is his success as captain and his ability to handle the talent. He is arguably one of the best captains for India. Under his leadership, the team won T20 World Cup 2007, ODI World Cup 2011, Champions Trophy 2013 and the Test mace.
There were speculations that the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was supposed to be his swansong. Those speculations got fire when he stepped down from the captaincy just before the tournament opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

In the recently-concluded IPL season when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were playing against Gujarat Titans (GT) for match no.59, a fan breached the security to meet his idol Dhoni. He bowed down and touched his feet and later police took him outside the stadium.
However, CSK lost that match against GT by 35 runs which was played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. MS Dhoni scored 26 runs in 11 balls. In IPL 2024, Dhoni played the finisher role for the franchise as he scored 161 runs at an average of 53.67.

After the tournament, a video is going viral on social sphere where former CSK skipper's fan revealed that he had some breathing issues and Dhoni helped him with his surgery. Here is the clip:
"Fan told him he has some breathing issues and there is surgery of it. He wanted to meet him before surgery. Mahi replied "Teri surgery ka mai dekh lunga. Tujhe kuch nahi hoga, tu ghabara mat. Mai tujhe kuch nahi hone dunga" captioned the video.
After announcing retirement from all forms of international cricket, he led CSK till IPL 2023 and proved himself one of the most successful leaders in the cash-rich league as well. Under his captaincy, the franchise won five IPL titles which is joint most by any team.
CSK in IPL 2024
Under Gaikwad's captaincy five-time IPL champions CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs after losing the do-or-die clash against RCB which was played at M. Chinnasway Stadium in Bengaluru. Gaikwad & Co. won seven out of 14 matches.
