In a heartwarming gesture, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) men's team welcomed their champion women's team at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This special celebration comes after the RCB women's team secured a historic Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 title. The occasion coincided with the RCB's unbox event for the upcoming Indian 2024, further amplifying the excitement. The women's team, proudly holding the WPL trophy, arrived at the stadium and were met with a rousing reception.

Captain Smriti Mandhana led the RCB women's team onto the ground, where they were greeted by a guard of honor formed by the men's team, including star players like Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. The entire men's team erupted in applause, acknowledging the women's incredible feat.

After receiving the guard of honor, Mandhana, captain of the RCB women's team, along with her teammates and the trophy, embarked on a lap of honor to acknowledge the cheering crowd. This heartwarming moment was captured on video and quickly went viral, with many praising the men's team for their respectful gesture.

RCB's phenomenal campaign at WPL 2024

The RCB women's team emerged as the undisputed champions of the recently concluded WPL. Their journey to victory was a testament to their resilience and fighting spirit. Throughout the tournament, RCB women's team displayed a magnificent brand of cricket, displaying their talent and determination. There were undoubtedly moments where they faced setbacks, finding themselves down on the scoreboard. However, true to their character, they never gave up. They dug deep, rose from these challenges, and ultimately scripted history.

Their path to the final wasn't a cakewalk. Finishing the league stage at number four with four wins, they faced a tough eliminator against the Mumbai Indians.  For a large part of the match, the Smriti Mandhana-led side seemed to struggle. But what truly set them apart was their remarkable comeback spirit. They snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, booking their place in the finals against the Delhi Capitals.

They brought their A-game in the WPL final against DC, completely outplaying their opponents and securing the coveted trophy. This historic win marked not only the RCB women's first title but also the franchise's first championship across all leagues.

 

In a heartwarming gesture, Smriti Mandhana, captain of the victorious RCB Women's team, didn't forget her overseas teammates, Ellyse Perry and Sophie Molineux. While receiving a guard of honor from the RCB men's team and a thunderous ovation from the Bengaluru crowd, Mandhana took a moment to video call Perry and Molineux, ensuring they felt included in the celebrations.

Notably, Perry and Molineux had already returned to their home countries after the WPL concluded. Despite their absence, Mandhana's thoughtful act highlighted their significant contribution to RCB's championship run. Both players were instrumental throughout the tournament, showcasing exceptional skills and helping the team script history.
