ICC T20I Rankings: Axar Patel grabs career-best spot; Yashasvi Jaiswal-Shivam Dube take massive leaps after stellar shows

Axar Patel surged to his career-best fifth spot in the ICC Men's T20I bowling rankings.

Axar Patel has taken four wickets so far in the first two T20Is against Afghanistan.

India's star all-rounder Axar Patel has risen 12 spots to clinch his career-best fifth spot ICC Men's T20I bowling rankings. This follows his impressive performances in the series against Afghanistan. Axar Patel's effective bowling, with figures of two for 23 and two for 16 in India's back-to-back six-wicket victories over Afghanistan in the first two matches of their three-game series, has also propelled him to the 16th spot in the all-rounders' rankings.

 

As far as T20I batting ranking is concerned, India's star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal's 68 off 34 balls in the first T20I in Indore has moved him up seven places to a career-high sixth position. Similarly, left-handed batting sensation Shivam Dube's consecutive unbeaten scores of 60 and 63 have catapulted him from the 265th to the 58th spot in the ICC rankings.

 

Several cricketers have seen a rise in their rankings, with notable improvements in the ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings. Finn Allen of New Zealand has made significant strides, jumping 11 spots to 16th among batters. His performances, which include scoring 34 off 15 balls and 74 off 41 balls, were instrumental in New Zealand's victories in the first two matches against Pakistan. Tim Southee, his teammate, has also climbed the rankings, moving up eight places to 18th among bowlers after taking six wickets in these matches.

 

From the Indian squad, Shubman Gill has ascended seven places to 60th among batters, while Tilak Verma has moved up three places to tie for the 61st position. Arshdeep Singh has improved his standing as well, now ranking 21st among bowlers, a four-place increase.

Afghanistan's Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi have also seen advancements in their batting rankings. Zadran has moved up one spot to 46th, and Nabi has climbed two places to 54th.

 

Pakistan's prominent batsman Babar Azam has climbed up to the fourth position after scoring half-centuries in consecutive matches against New Zealand. Meanwhile, his teammate Fakhar Zaman has made a significant leap, moving up 14 spots to rank 81st. From the New Zealand team, Daryll Mitchell has risen nine places to 37th, and Kane Williamson has jumped 13 places to 59th among batters.

 

In the T20I bowling rankings, Sri Lankan spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana have both advanced, now sharing the third position. Hasaranga moved up one place, while Theekshana climbed two spots. Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf, with a total of five wickets across two matches, has ascended two places to be joint-14th. Adam Milne of New Zealand, with his six wickets in two matches, has made a substantial jump from the 66th to a joint-47th position.
