Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s squads for the upcoming Afghanistan series featuring three ODIs and a one-off Test under the leadership of Shubman Gill in both formats. Among the fresh faces selected for the tour, Gurnoor Brar is one of the standout names who is set to make his India debut in both ODIs and Tests.
The pacer joins a list of other young stars receiving maiden opportunities for India, including Prince Yadav in ODIs, along with Manav Suthar (Test) and Harsh Dubey in both Test and ODI setup.

Who is Gurnoor Brar?
Born on May 25, 2000, in Muktsar, Punjab, Gurnoor Brar is a right-arm fast bowler who primarily plays as a specialist pacer. Standing tall at 6’4”, Brar is known for generating raw pace, steep bounce and consistently hitting hard lengths.
The 25-year-old represents teams like Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Punjab in domestic cricket, along with India A and Rest of India sides.
In his First-Class career so far, Brar has played 18 matches and bowled 2356 deliveries, which is nearly 393 overs. During this period, he has picked up 52 wickets at an average of 27.30 while maintaining an economy of 3.61. He has registered three four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul in red-ball cricket.
In List A cricket, Brar has featured in nine matches and claimed 12 wickets at an average of 39 with an economy rate of 6.47 after bowling 434 deliveries.
Brar’s IPL journey began as a net bowler for Mumbai Indians before he eventually made his IPL debut in 2023 for Punjab Kings. He was later picked up by Gujarat Titans, where he has continued his development under the guidance of former India pacer Ashish Nehra.
