Cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar opened up on Pakistan's Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan's controversial gestures during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash against Pakistan. Rauf was seen doing 6-0 gesture towards the Indian fans and mimicking planes getting shot down, and Farhan celebrated his fifty with a gun celebration.
Notably, the International Cricket Council (ICC) fined Haris Rauf for his misconduct, and Farhan received a warning from the cricketing governing body. Both India and Pakistan have sealed their berth for the Asia Cup final, which will take place on September 28 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Ahead of the tournament decider, Gavaskar exclusively told Sports Today that after the players are fined, there will be no drama in the finale.
"I think that would be what we'll get to know soon. But the needle will probably still be there. And on Sunday, hopefully... you won't get to see the kind of stuff that we got to see last Sunday," Gavaskar told Sports Today.
He further suggested that India play hard, and if someone gives it to them, then they should give it back to them. He further stated that you must not start anything.
"You should play hard, absolutely. And if somebody gives it to you, then you give it back to them. I do believe that you mustn't be the initiator of anything; you mustn't start anything. Because you must be able to handle it. What happens sometimes is that there's one person who's really aggressive and who can handle it. He can give it, and he can handle it. But the other nine or ten players might not be able to handle it and it's given back to them. So the thing to do would be obviously to just play the game and leave all the talking to be done by the bat or the ball" Gavaskar added.
India and Pakistan have faced each other twice in the Asia Cup, first in the group stage clash and then in the Super Four clash. India came victorious in both outings, defeating them by six and seven wickets respectively.
