Sports Tak has learnt that the match referee is expected to announce his final decision regarding the matter September 26. Additionally, the hearing involving the Pakistan team is also scheduled to take place on the same date.

Notably, ICC match referee Richie Richardson formally requested an explanation from Suryakumar.

The already simmering tensions between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the ongoing Asia Cup escalated, with both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and PCB filing complaints with ICC.

The BCCI's complaint specifically targets the on-field conduct of Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan and fast bowler Haris Rauf. Farhan is under scrutiny for performing a 'gun celebration' with his bat after reaching his fifty during the Super Fours match against India on Sunday. Meanwhile, a video showed Rauf making an unacceptable gesture towards fans while fielding on the boundary line. Rauf was also involved in a heated verbal exchange during the match with Indian openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.

This was not the first time PCB lodged a complaint to ICC as previously they demanded the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft, claiming he had instructed both teams not to shake hands before their initial match. The Pakistan team even delayed their arrival for the subsequent game against the UAE. But ICC didn't entertain their demand and Pycroft remained the match referee for the match and the match took finally took place, albeit after an hour delay.
