Bangladesh got the better of Hong Kong by 7 wickets in their Asia Cup 2025 Group B clash

Bangladesh chased down the 144-run target with 14 balls to spare

Bangladesh kicked off their Asia Cup 2025 campaign in style as they crushed Hong Kong by seven wickets in their Group B clash in Abu Dhabi on September 11. This was Hong Kong's second straight defeat in the ongoing Asia Cup after their 94-run drubbing against Afghanistan, and with this their campaign is all but over.

Bangladesh crush Hong Kong by 7 wickets

Batting first Hong Kong rode on Nizakat Khan's 40-ball 42 to post a modest total of 143/7. In reply, Bangladesh wrapped up the chase in just 17.4 overs, thanks to Litton Das' captain's knock, where he scored a well-crafted 59.

Bangladesh will next face Sri Lanka on September 13 while Hong Kong will also face the same opponent on September 15.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Bangladesh's disciplined bowling attack successfully restricted Hong Kong to a modest total of 143 for 7 in their 20 overs. Young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib was the star with the ball, taking two key wickets, including those of Zeeshan Ali (30 off 34) and Hayat, while giving up only 21 runs. Taskin Ahmed (2/38) and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain (2/31) also made crucial breakthroughs, and Mustafizur Rahman delivered a tight, economical spell. Despite a late surge from Yasim Murtaza (28 off 19), Hong Kong was never able to build the necessary momentum to post a challenging score.

In their chase, Bangladesh was led by an impressive innings from captain Litton Das, who anchored the innings with a blazing 59 from just 39 balls, which included six fours and one six. He was well supported by Parvez Hossain Emon (19 off 14) and Towhid Hridoy (35* off 36). Bangladesh successfully reached the target in 17.4 overs, finishing at 144 for 3. Litton Das's match-winning performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
