India celebrated Asia Cup 2025 win without trophy.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) cricket council chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief and interior Pakistan minister, has refused to congratulate the Suryakumar Yadav-led India for their Asia Cup 2025 win in the Asian Cricket Council's AGM in Dubai. India defeated Pakistan in the final to win the tournament at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.

Naqvi refuses to congratulate India

Sports Tak understands that Naqvi refused to congratulate India for their Asia Cup win, instead congratulating Mongolia and Nepal for being inducted into the Asian Cricket Council, despite BCCI representative Ashish Sehlar forcing the PCB chief to congratulate the Asia Cup 2025 winners.

Controversy during Asia Cup 2025 final

The controversy started after the conclusion of the title decider; the presentation ceremony was delayed for more than an hour after India refused to accept the coveted title from ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan's interior minister.

Mohsin Naqvi's stubbornness forced India to celebrate its win without the trophy. Considering the matter, BCCI raised a strong objection at the Asian Cricket Council's AGM over India not being presented the winner's trophy of the Asia Cup

When will India get Asia Cup trophy?

The Asia Cup trophy remains in the ACC office, and it is still not clear when it will reach the members of the winning team.

"India raised strong objections in the ACC meeting today on not handing over of the trophy and the drama by ACC chairman (Naqvi) during the post-match award event," a close source to development told Sports Tak.

"Shuklaji categorically said that the trophy should be handed over to the winning team. It is an ACC trophy and doesn't belong to an individual, he said," the source added.

Earlier, there were reports that Naqvi had told the organisers that he would hand the Indian team their medals only if a formal function was held where he could give them the awards.
