Sri Lankan ODI World Cup-winning star Dimuth Karunaratne compared the young batter Abhishek Sharma with legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh after his hard-hitting knock during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash against Bangladesh at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.

Interestingly, Abhishek, who has been compared with Yuvraj, has been mentored and groomed by him during his early cricketing career. Karunaratne took his 'X', formerly known as Twitter, to laud Abhishek for his destructive batting in the Asia Cup 2025.

Watching Abhishek Sharma smash boundaries like this brings back all the memories of Yuvraj Singh in his prime," wrote Karunaratne.

Abhiushek is currently in the form of his life, he is the highest run-getter in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, smashing 248 runs in his five outings of the tournament, including two half-centuries at an average of 62. His last outing came in India's second Group Stage clash against Bangladesh, where he scored 75 off 37 before getting run out.
