Former India cricketer Madan Lal was highly critical of the Pakistan batters for their poor display against the Men in Blue in Asia Cup 2025. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Men in Green had nothing short of a disastrous start as they lost opener Saim Ayub on the first ball of the match. They then lost Mohammad Haris in the second over to Jasprit Bumrah in the second over, restricting them to 6/2 at one stage.
The decision to bat first certainly didn't work for the Salman Ali Agha-led side as they could only manage to put up a total of 127/9 in 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan was the top-scorer for the side in the match with his knock of 40 and Shaheen Afridi played an impactful cameo of 33* to lead the team to a respectable score.
Following the match, Madan gave credit to BCCI for taking Indian cricket to 'unprecedented heights' by bettering infrastructure and creating a competitive environment. On the other hand, he also talked about Pakistan cricket and claimed that there is a lack of talent in their current players. He also slammed their batters for playing poor shots in the Asia Cup clash against India.
“Not playing against each other doesn’t solve anything. A lot of people talk about money. Can you run the game without money? No. Just look at the BCCI. It’s a multi-million industry now, taking Indian cricket to unprecedented heights. They focus on bettering infrastructure, creating a competitive environment by conducting India A matches, and whatnot. And that’s why our team’s standard is so high," Madan told CNN-News18.
“Look at Pakistan. Jaisa wo khele hain… unmein talent hi nahi hai (They lack talent big time). I’ve never seen such shot-making in international cricket. Complete lack of skill," he added.
India qualify for Super 4
Meanwhile, the comprehensive 7-wicket victory over Pakistan saw India qualify for the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup. However, the Men in Green's fate is still not decided and they will have to defeat UAE in their next encounter of the tournament in order to make it out of the group stage.
