Shubman Gill also climbed seven places up in the standings

India's explosive opener Abhishek Sharma retained his no.1 position in the ICC men's T20I rankings for batters following a stellar performance in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. Not just Abhishek, even India's ace spinner Varun Chakravarthy too continued to reign supreme too in the bowlers standings. Abhishek Sharma, who had already held the top spot before the tournament began, delivered a devastating knock of 74 runs off just 39 balls against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super Fours stage. This innings was his best performance after a few moderate scores in the earlier matches, and it effectively made a mockery of the 172-run target set by Pakistan.

Abhishek Sharma's dominance continues in T20I Rankings

Not just this, Abhishek now boasts a career-best rating of 907 points, placing the southpaw a commanding 63 points ahead of England's opener, Phil Salt, who sits in second place. The rankings also saw movement from another young Indian left-hander, Tilak Varma, who climbed one spot to third. Conversely, one of the best white-ball batters, Jos Buttler, dropped down a place. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka swapped positions despite relatively poor showings in their recent match against Pakistan, with Yadav getting out for a duck and Nissanka scoring only 8 runs. The top ten list is rounded out by Tim David and Dewald Brevis.

Among the notable climbers in the latest T20I rankings, Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan made a significant leap, jumping 31 places to reach the No. 24 spot. This was a result of his impressive performances, including a score of 58 against India and a quickfire 24 runs off just 15 balls against Sri Lanka. India's Shubman Gill and Bangladesh's Towhid Hridoy also saw positive movement, each climbing seven places. Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka moved up six places to share the 47th spot, and Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi gained 13 places after his explosive 60-run innings against Sri Lanka in their final Asia Cup match.

In the all-rounder category, Hardik Pandya's stay at top continues. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Dasun Shanaka rose 10 spots to No. 76, despite being dismissed for a duck against Pakistan. This gain was a result of his earlier half-century against Bangladesh in the first Super Fours fixture. His teammate Kamindu Mendis also saw a massive jump, gaining 32 spots to move from 110th to No. 78.
