India’s pace-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he is available for selection for the two-Test series at home against West Indies next month, as per a report by Indian Express. The senior selection committee is set to announce India's squad on September 24 for the Test series which begins on October 2 in Ahmedabad.
Bumrah’s workload was managed on the England tour where he played three Tests in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He returned to the T20Is after more than a year for the ongoing T20 Asia Cup 2025.
Bumrah was recently rested for the group stage match against Oman. However, on September 23 in the pre-match press conference, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said that he is unlikely to be rested for any game going forward in the tournament.
“It is unlikely that Bumrah will be rested. He is set to play the West Indies Tests. We’ve got important matches coming up, and it’s good for him to keep playing and get more match time,” Ten Doeschate told the reporters.
