The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla questioned Mohsin Naqvi, who is the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and Pakistan's interim minister, during the  Asian Cricket Council's AGM over India not being presented the winner's trophy of the Asia Cup 2025.

BCCI vice president, who was there in the AGM meeting representing the board alongside former treasurer Ashish Shelar told Naqvi that the trophy should be handed over to the winning team because it is an ACC trophy. It doesn't belong to an individual.

"India raised strong objection in the ACC meeting today on not handing over of the trophy and the drama by ACC chairman (Naqvi) during the post-match award event," a source told Sports tak.

 

"Shukla and Shelar categorically said that the trophy should be handed over to the winning team. It is an ACC trophy and doesn't belong to an individual. Naqvi did not say no to it, he was passing the buck," the source added.

Why India travelled back without the Asia Cup trophy

Suryakumar Yadav-led India refused to take the trophy from ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also a minister in the Pakistan government. After India's decision, the presentation ceremony was ended without the trophy. After that India celebrated their win without the trophy.

Controversies India vs Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025

India faced Pakistan three times in the Asia Cup 2025, where skipper Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with his counterpart Salman Ali Agha and the team also refused to shake hands with the Men in Green after defeating them in all three outings by seven, six and five wickets respectively. Apart from that, Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf also slapped with 30 per cent match fee fine for his controversial gestures during the Super Four clash of the mega event at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
