United Arab Emirates (UAE) have announced 17-member squad for the T20 Asia Cup 2025. The selectors have made two additions -- Matiullah Khan and Simranjeet Singh -- to the squad selected for the ongoing tri-series at home featuring Afghanistan and Pakistan. Veteran batter Muhammad Waseem will continue to lead UAE in the continental tournament.
UAE will play their campaign opener against Suryakumar Yadav-led India on September 10 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The hosts have been placed in Group A, which also features Pakistan and Oman.They will go up against Oman on September 15 in Abu Dhabi. Their final group clash is against Pakistan on September 17.
UAE will face India for the second time in T20Is.In 2016, they managed to post 81/9 in the T20 Asia Cup clash. India won the game by nine wickets.

Meanwhile, UAE are yet to open their win account in the tri-series. They lost to Afghanistan and Pakistan while chasing the target. They are scheduled to take on Pakistan and UAE on September 4 and 5 respectively in the tri-series. The final will be played on September 7.
Captain Waseem chasing milestones
Meanwhile, UAE skipper Waseem is chasing a few personal milestones. He needs 141 more runs to become 11th batter to score 3,000 T20I runs. Currently, he has 2,859 runs at an average of 38.12, including three centuries and 23 fifties.
Waseem also has a chance to become the second batter after India's T20 World Cup 2024-winning captain's record for most T20I sixes. Waseem recently went past former New Zealand opener Martin Guptill (173 sixes) to take the second spot. Waseem has 176 sixes whereas Rohit is on top with 205 sixes. The 31-year-old recently broke the record for most T20I sixes as captain.
