India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has passed all the fitness and batting tests ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. The mega event is scheduled to start from September 9, where Suryakumar Yadav will lead India. The stylish batter went under the knife for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen in Munich, Germany, after featuring for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After successful surgery and six weeks of rehab at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence, he returned to training in August 2025 and has been named in India's squad for the Asia Cup 2025.
Suryakumar Yadav took to his Instagram to share a video where the batter can be seen sweating out in the nets ahead of the Asia Cup. Suryakumar Yadav captioned the clip as "Final Checks ✅". He can be seen batting freely in the clip. Here is the video.
This will be the first time that Suryakumar Yadav will lead India in a multi-team tournament. Defending champions Team India will start their Asia Cup 2025 campaign on September 10 against the UAE at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The high-voltage clash of the tournament between India and Pakistan will take place on September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. BCCI have already announced India's squad for the mega event, where Test captain Shubman Gill was rewarded vice-captaincy following his memorable Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 against England, which ended 2-2 draw.
