India Test veteran Ajinkya Rahane praised speedster Arshdeep Singh's selection in the Suryakumar Yadav-led Asia Cup 2025 squad. He believes that the Punjab-born pacer will create a huge impact for India in the mega event which is scheduled to start from September 9.
Rahane, who captained India in the memorable Border-Gavaskar Trophy win in Australia, reckons that with Arshdeep's inclusion in the squad the team doesn't need to be dependent on pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in the continental event because he can easily bluff the batters with his swing and yorkers.
“I am excited to see Arshdeep Singh bowling with Bumrah. We all know his ability, his skill work. He can swing the ball both ways but also he can bowl those yorkers with the new ball and that’s a very good skill to have. You don’t want to depend every time on Bumrah or any other bowler. Arshdeep can bowl those yorkers, straight yorkers, wide yorkers. As I said earlier also, he can bluff the batsman. he has the slower ball and he has the ability to pick up wickets" said Ajinkya Rahane on his youtube channel
Suryakumar Yadav-led India will start their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the UAE on September 10 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan will also take place at the same venue on September 14. The Men in Blue have already reached Dubai to get prepared for the mega event and recently had a full-fledged practice session at the ICC Academy.
