Australia registered a stunning comeback after losing the first ODI in Mumbai to beat India in back-to-back matches and claim the series 2-1. Steve Smith-led side rocked India by 21 runs in the final ODI and halted Men in Blue's winning streak in bilateral series. The last time India lost a series at home was in 2018/19. Talking about the 3rd ODI in Chennai, the Baggy Greens, who won the toss and opted to bat, posted 269 runs in 49 overs.
Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav led India's attack and scalped three wickets each. India in response got off to a strong start as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 65 runs for the opening wicket. Virat Kohli scored a half-century, while Hardik Pandya scored a run-a-ball 40. However, wickets at regular intervals kept Australia in the contest. Adam Zampa scalped four wickets in his quota, while Ashton Agar scalped two, both coming in his final over to finally rock India by 21 runs.
Kuldeep Yadav bowled well in Chennai and bagged three wickets but conceded 56 runs in 10 overs. One of the netizens opined that the left-arm wrist spinner didn't bowl to the right field and tagged former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan for his opinion.
The former spinner replied to the Tweet and said, "I offered my services to Rahul Dravid and he said that I was too senior to him, to be working under him-with the spinners."
After losing the series, India went down to No.2 in the ICC ODI rankings, although they are tied on 113 rating points with the Aussies.
The Indian cricketers will next be seen showcasing their talent in the greatest franchise T20 league in the world. The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin on March 31 and players participating in the cash-rich tournament have already started training with their respective franchises and the Indian cricketers, who were busy with national duties will now be joining their respective franchises.
