Stand-in Australia captain Steve Smith is not just a mercurial batter, who over his glittering career has trounced the best bowlers in the world, but he also happens to be an elite fielder. Smith's athleticism and lightning-fast agility are second to none and over the years, he has produced numerous magical moments on the field. Be it in the slip cordon, leg slip, point or covers, the 33-year-old has plucked multiple one-handed screamers flying like a 'superman'.
In the second ODI against India on March 19 (Sunday) at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Smith produced another spectacular moment on the field which stunned Indian vice-captain Hardik Pandya and millions watching on television. The incident occurred on the second ball of the 10th over when Sean Abbott found the outside edge of Hardik's bat and the ball went flying towards Smith at slip.
With close to no reaction time, the Aussie skipper dived full stretch to his right, his body parallel to the ground and completed a phenomenal one-handed catch to send Hardik Packing for just one run of three balls.
