Former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad is in no mood to hold back as he slammed cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra for calling him an “agenda peddler”. Following Prasad's criticism of out-of-form KL Rahul, Chopra posted a video on Youtube on February 21 saying that the former did not mention the statistics of other players while comparing Rahul.
"He (Prasad) didn't even write about Shubman's home numbers. Because you are showing averages, he has played 11 innings at home in which his average is 26.3. I am saying that you shouldn't judge Shubman Gill with averages. He is a damn good player. He is a better player than that but use the same yardstick for the others. He has shown 14 overseas innings in which he has an average of 37, in which he has conveniently not spoken about SENA countries. If we see only SENA, his numbers will also not be that good. His away numbers are looking good because of Bangladesh," Chopra had said in his video.
Prasad dug out a tweet of Chopra from December 30, 2012 where he wrote "Rahane doesn't make it to the XI. And 'talented' Rohit Sharma does.”
Prasad clarified that he has no agenda against any player. In addition, he also pointed out that there is no bitterness between the two but there should be no misrepresentation of statistics.

“I admire Aakash for the hardwork he puts on his YouTube channel but calling a different view point as agenda because it doesn’t suit his narrative is poor. There is no bitterness between us and since his video was in public domain wanted to put my point out here. Best wishes,” Venkatesh wrote in one of his tweets from the long thread.
Prasad has been critical of Rahul who has had an extended lead patch in Test cricket. As Rahul continued to fail in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the 53-year-old said that Shubman Gill should replace him in the playing eleven. Also, he said that there are players like Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan who have been waiting in the wings while Rahul continues to struggle. He criticised head coach Rahul Dravid as well for backing Rahul on the basis of six overseas centuries.
