On a pitch that favoured the spinners, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a slower off-cutter to leave Mushfiqur Rahim stunned. After knocking him over in the first innings on Day 4, Bumrah ended Rahim’s stay at the crease and wrap up Bangladesh’s innings with a brilliant delivery that flattened the middle stump. 

Towards the end of the extended first session, Bumrah was brought back to get rid of tailender Khaled Ahmed. The no.11 batter was able to hit a boundary and then take a single off the fifth delivery. On the last ball, instead of going for a single, Mushfiqur went for the big shot. He missed the slower off-cutter from India's pace bowling spearhead and got bowled. 

Bangladesh’s fight ends in two sessions

Mushfiqur scored 37 runs from 63 balls. Bangladesh were bowled out for 146 in 47 overs. Apart from Mushfiqur, three other Bangladesh batters scored in double digits. Shadman Islam scored a half-century while the visitors suffered a batting collapse. Mushfiqur batted with the tail but could not get the lead past the 100-run mark. Bangladesh set a target of 95 for India with two sessions left in Day 5. Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bagged three wickets each whereas Akash Deep got one wicket.

Earlier, in the first innings, Bumrah dismissed Mushfiqur for 11. The 37-year-old shouldered arms as he did not read the line of the delivery. Bumrah angled it in and the ball crashed into the stumps. In the first innings, Bumrah bagged three wickets as well.
