India's young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal revealed his conversation with captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir before the second Test match against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium Kanpur.
Jaiswal who was awarded Player of the Match for his 72 and 51 run knocks in the second Test match revealed that Rohit and Gambhir told him to play the way he wanted to.
"I think I was just thinking what I can do for my team. The situation was different in Chennai, and different here. I was just trying to do what I should do for my team and was trying my best. Every innings is important. I try my best and prepare in that manner. Rohit bhai and sir told me to play the way I want to. We had a chat that we had to at least put some scores and we can play freely. Wanted to win this game and we were just going for it" said Jaiswal in post-match conference.
After restricting Bangladesh on 233 runs, Jaiswal came to bat alongside Rohit and both batters started smashing the bowlers to all over the ground. Indian openers' destructive batting helped India to score the team's fastest 50, 100, 150, and 200 in Test cricket which helped India to take a lead of 52 runs on Day 4.
Jaiswal has featured in 11 Test matches for India where he scored 1217 runs with a highest score of 214 not-out. With his destructive knock against Bangladesh, Jaiswal broke the record of India's batting great Sunil Gavaskar to become youngest batter to score more than 918 runs in a calendar year before turning 23.
India have registered a dominating seven-wicket win against Bangladesh in the second Test match to whitewash the two-Test match series.
India will now play a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh which is scheduled to start from October 7, where Suryakumar Yadav will lead Men in Blue.
