Mohammad Amir was the part of Pakistan's 2017 Champions Trophy winning squad.

Mohammad Rizwan-led side are ruled out of Champions Trophy 2025.

Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir believes that former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) members Misbah Ul Haq and Waqar Younis made some decisions that are still damaging Pakistan Cricket. Former Pakistan skipper Misbah was part of PCB's technical committee and Waqar Younis was the bowling coach.

Pakistan Cricket team led by Mohammad Rizwan are currently facing a lot of criticism for their poor show in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025.

In the exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, Pakistan's Champions Trophy 2017 winning star decoded why the Men in Green are currently facing a massive downfall.

"There are many reasons for the downfall. The reasons for this are that in these 5 years, how many chairmen have changed, how many captains have changed, how many selectors have changed? What I feel is that if you go now, the Pakistan team was fine in 2019. It was doing well, 17, 18, 19. These 3 years have been very good for us. But in 2020, as soon as Mickey Arthur went, everyone went, Then the chairman changed, and then Misbah and Waqar came. They made some decisions that are still damaging Pakistan Cricket. They are still doing it, which I think" Amir told Sports Tak.

He further explained that they were serving during the COVID-19 and under their tenure there were 35-36 players who made international debuts.

"Because in that year, I think they had made the debut of 36 boys. If you remember, because there was Covid, and they were playing with 36-40 boys. And after that, when Rameez Raja came and became the Babar captain" added Amir.

Despite hosts, Pakistan are ruled out of the Champions Trophy after losing their two group-stage matches against New Zealand and India respectively. The Men in Green are scheduled to play their third league match against Bangladesh which will be a dear rubber clash as both teams are already ruled out of the tournament.
