Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif lavished praise on Shreyas Iyer for his performance in the Champions Trophy 2025 clash against New Zealand at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Iyer, who made his international comeback after flexing his form in domestic cricket, scored 79 runs in India's third league clash. 

Iyer came to bat when India were in a spot of bother as they lost three quick wickets. Iyer joined Virat Kohli after Rohit Sharma's wicket where India were on 22. The batter stitched a partnership with Axar Patel as Virat Kohli also departed after scoring jus 11 runs in his 300th ODI clash.

Kaif, who was a part of India's 2002 Champions Trophy squad, took his 'X' formerly known as Twitter to praise Iyer for his knock. 

"It’s Shreyas Iyer once again in icc event against NZ. His phenomenal run continues, high time the world starts talking about his strengths and not keep pointing to his weakness" wrote Mohammad Kaif. 

Shreyas Iyer got out in the 37th over and while writing this copy, India are 190/6. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are looking to build a partnership to put a decent total. 

The ongoing clash between India and New Zealand will decide the scenario for the semifinals. If India won this match, they will face Australia in their semis. Otherwise they will lock horns against South Africa. India will play their semifinal in  Dubai at the same venue.
