India wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul will most likely to be rested for the upcoming white ball series against England which is scheduled to start from January 22. India will host England for five T20Is followed by three ODIs which will be the team's last assignment before the Champions Trophy 2025.
However, KL Rahul will be available for the selection for the Champions Trophy 2025 where India will play all their games in Dubai while rest of the matches will be held in host nation Pakistan.
"He has sought a break for the England series but he will be available for selection for Champions Trophy," a BCCI source told PTI on Thursday.
KL Rahul was recently featured in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where he was among the few batters who managed to score runs against Australia. He was India's third-highest run-getter scoring 276 runs in 10 innings at an average of 30.66.
India will play their Champions Trophy 2025 opener clash against Bangladesh on February 20. The high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan will take place on February 23. The Champions Trophy is scheduled to start on February 19 and the final of the marquee event will be played on March 9 and the venue for the grand finale depends upon India's qualification.
If India manages to reach the final then the final will take place in Dubai otherwise Pakistan's Lahore will witness the grand finale.
