India's squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and ODI series announced: No place for Sanju Samson, Mohammed Siraj, major update on Jasprit Bumrah

Team India's 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was announced by chief selector Ajit Agarkar in the press conference on January 18 in Mumbai. India's pace-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah's participation is subject to fitness. Bumrah will miss at least a couple of games against England in the ODI series.

In the ODI series against England, Harshit Rana will play in the place of Bumrah who got injured in the Sydney Test.

"Bumrah has been told to off-load for five weeks after and he won't be available for the first two ODIs against England. We are waiting on his fitness and will know his status in early February from the medical team," Agarkar said ," Agarkar said in the press conference.

 

 

Leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami will return after a long injury layoff. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is set to make his ODI debut. There is no place for wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, in-form batter Karun Nair, pacer Mohammed Siraj and Rinku Singh.

India's schedule for Champions Trophy 2025

India have been placed in Group A alongside Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand. India will start their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai. Their next clash is against co-hosts Pakistan on February 23. After a long break, India will lock horns with New Zealand on March 2.

Champions Trophy 2025 knockout schedule

The semifinals will be played on March 4 and 5. The final is scheduled to take place on March 9. The venue for the final will be dependent on whether India qualify or not. If India reach the final, it will be played in Dubai. If India get knocked out at the group stage or in the semifinals, the final will be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
