India's captain Rohit Sharma scripted history as he achieved a massive batting milestone in Men in Blue's Champions Trophy 2025's campaign opener against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, February 20. Rohit Sharma clocked the mighty milestone of 11,000 runs in ODIs.

Rohit Sharma clocks 11000 ODI runs

Rohit not only notched 11000 ODI runs, but also became the second fastest batter to taste the glory by breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record. Rohit became the second-fastest player to reach 11000 ODI runs, achieving the feat in 261 innings, faster than Tendulkar's 276 innings.

Notably, Virat Kohli remains the world's fastest player to reach 11,000 ODI runs, having achieved this milestone in just 222 innings back in 2019.

Rohit, hence, joined an elite club, becoming only the fourth Indian batsman to reach 11,000 runs in ODIs, following in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Sourav Ganguly.

Rohit's brigade is chasing a target of 229 runs after Bangladesh posted a total of 228. Towhid Hridoy's century was the cornerstone of Bangladesh's innings, which was stabilised by a crucial 154-run partnership between Hridoy and Jaker Ali for the sixth wicket. The solid partnership helped Bangladesh recover from a precarious position, having lost five wickets within the powerplay after choosing to bat first.
