Shubman Gill has a straightforward answer when asked about Champions Trophy clash vs Pakistan

India's vice captain Shubman Gill has no different approach for the high-octane Champions Trophy 2025 clash against their arch-rivals Pakistan. Gill, who turned up for India's pre-match press conference, said that India versus Pakistan doesn't change anything.

"India vs Pakistan doesn’t change anything. We play to win every match It's about handling the pressure better," Gill said in the pre-match press conference ahead of match against Pakistan. .

Gill was also asked about the hype around the highly-anticipated encounter against Pakistan, to which he said:

"I don't know if it is overhyped or underhyped. The clash carries a lot of history and there are millions of people who love to watch this game. Who am I to say if it is overhyped or underhyped," Gill added.

Talking about India versus Pakistan's head-to-head record in Champions Trophy, the Men in Green has an edge of Rohit Sharma's brigade. Pakistan are leading India 3-2 in head-to-head encounters in Champions Trophy. Notably, their most recent meeting took place in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, a match that culminated in Pakistan's victory and their first-ever Champions Trophy title, achieved by defeating their arch-rivals, India.
However, Gill admitted Team India are playing good cricket but also didn't forget to mention that Pakistan are no lesser side.

"India vs Pakistan is big, but Champions Trophy final is the bigger match. We have been playing good cricket but we will not take Pakistan as a lesser side," he further stated.
