India star spinner Varun Chakravarthy was the pick of the bowlers during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the mystery spinner entered into India's playing XI during the third league match against New Zealand. He cemented his place after picking a fifer in the third group stage clash.

Chakravarthy was a part of three matches and ended his campaign as the second highest wicket-taker with nine scalps after Matt Henry who picked 10 wickets in four matches. He was India's vital cog during the summit clash of the mega event removing Will Young in the eighth over. He picked up two wickets in the final, where India defeated New Zealand by four wickets to win the title.

After India's Champions Trophy 2025 triumph, Chakravarthy revealed that India skipper Rohit used him very well in the mega event. 

"Rohit Sharma used me very well. I bowled 2 overs in Powerplay, 2 to 3 overs in death & bowled whenever a wicket was needed in Middle overs - I told him that this is how my potential can be maximized & he understood that without me saying it because he is one of the greatest captains of all time" Chakravarthy told Star Sports. 

India's campaign during Champions Trophy 2025

Rohit Sharma-led India were undefeated throughout the tournament as they defeated Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in their group stage matches. The Men in Blue defeated Australia in the semifinal to seal their spot for the finale. 

This is India's third Champions Trophy title, the first one was shared with Sri Lanka in 2002, and the second title came under MS Dhoni's captaincy in 2013. With this win, India became the most successful team in Champions Trophy history, surpassing Australia with three titles.
