Former India cricketer Virat Kohli was spotted with veteran speedster Mohammed Shami's family after Rohit Sharma-led side defeated New Zealand by four wickets to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Shami, who made his international comeback just before the tournament, picked up nine wickets in five outings.
A video of Shami introducing his mother Anjum Ara to Virat is going viral on social media. Kohli, who is known for his aggressive play, humbly bowed and touched Shami's mother's feet for her blessings. He then posed for photographs with the pacer's family. Here is the clip.
Rohit Sharma-led India went unbeaten throughout the tournament. In the group phase, they defeated Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand, and then Australia in the semifinal before the final against New Zealand. After India's Champions Trophy 2025 win, Kohli lauded the youngsters who participated in the tournament and shared the dressing room with the batting great.

"It's been amazing, we wanted to bounce back after a tough Australia tour. Lovely playing with a bunch of amazing youngsters. They're stepping up and taking India in the right direction" said Kohli
"When you leave, you want to leave in a better position. So many impactful knocks (Shubman) Gill, Shreyas (Iyer), Rahul have played. The team is in good hands," he added.
It was India's fourth consecutive ICC final in less than two years as the Rohit Sharma-led side lifted their second consecutive ICC title following their triumph in last year's T20 World Cup in Barbados. It was Kohli's fourth ICC title, along with captain Rohit Sharma, making the duo the most successful Indian players after legendary skipper MS Dhoni in terms of winning ICC titles.
