Pant's absence in India's training sessions sparked a lot of speculations about the star.

India vice-captain Shubman Gill revealed that Pant missed the training sessions because he is down with viral fever.

"Rishabh Pant is down with viral fever and that's why he was not in training today. The conversations I have had with the players are that I go and talk to players that are feeling a little low - who are not playing regularly" said Gill during India's press conference ahead of Pakistan clash.

However, Pant missed his spot in India's playing XI during their opener clash against Bangladesh as the management featured with KL Rahul.
